I have been setting up my man-cave and got to setup all my CD's back on shelves to browse. I have about 360 CD's or so (and 343 artists, 1605 albums, and 17,957 songs in my Google Play music library). I keep the CD's because many of them are autographed and a lot of them are out of print and basically impossible to find. I want to keep them and my 250+ pieces of vinyl for my kids to show them how cool that stuff can be. About two thirds of my CD collection is Christian Rock covering the whole gamut, from Vineyard worship music to Kekal, one of the most extreme Christian Death Metal bands ever. I brought in a CD to show one of my buddies at work and as I was telling him about it he said "You know, you should make a blog and tell people about some of these cool bands that hardly anybody knows about". That idea bounced around in my brain for several days and I thought, "You know what, he's right. Some of this music will soon be lost forever. I need to record my thoughts on some of this music that has been so important to me so that people can remember." So this blog is the extension of that idea.
I am going to post a different album once a week or so. I will post the cover, my thoughts on the album, and any media I can find. I look forward to seeing the comments from others that may remember these albums or better yet comments from people that had forgot about the album until I brought it up. So, let's get this started shall we:
This was the album that I had brought in to work. This is my favorite Guardian album by far and I could not believe that I had never made a digital copy of it and added it to my Google Play library. I feel like every track is very strong. I particularly love the way the album starts, with both Dr. Jones and Shoeshine Johnny having great riffs that drive them forward. During Guardian's Swing, Swang, Swung tour I took my dad to see them hoping to get him into a little more Christian Metal. He absolutely loved the song Curiosity Killed the Cat. There are just so many groovin' riffs and solos on this album that you can listen to it over and over again. The production on the album is stellar (the Elefante bros rock). Overall, this is one of the great Christian Rock/Metal albums ever and definitely worth checking out. Please put any thoughts or memories you have of this album in the comments.
